Silver Harbor Brewing
Saint Joseph, Michigan

Silvert Harbor Brewing, located in Saint Joseph, Michigan, is a brewery I’ve visited a decent amount. My trips have been spread out over the 10ish years since I discovered this brewery and town.
I don’t recall the exact number of times I’ve been here but can think of visiting with at least six other people and recall three solo adventures here.

Beer Selection—3.5/5
There’s a decent selection of brews to choose from. They had lighter beers, IPAs—including a hazy—a brown (delicious and one I remembered from previous visits), stouts, and some heavier beers. Their flight board looks great.

Vibe—4/5
It definitely feels like a restaurant, but in a good way. The long wooden bar is nothing short of phenomenal. (I can be easily pleased in this regard). Bright tanks are tucked in the corner behind glass. The place feels spacious and cozy at the same time—not always easy to pull off.

Service—5/5
Their servers are attentive and will take care of you, whether you’re at a table or at the bar. They make sure you have what you need. This is especially important in times when restaurants and breweries are increasingly short-staffed.

Beer Quality—3.5/5
As stated before, I remembered some of the beers; generally, this is a good sign. If I’ve been to a place before but can’t recall a single beer on draft it means I found the place extremely underwhelming, or I blacked out the memory from my mind because of how awful it was.
They have one of my favorite Browns—the Kumbaya Brown (5.4% abv)—can be found here. I love the vanilla in this. I’d definitely say this is one of my favorites here, if not my favorite, and I’m normally not a big fan of browns.

Food—4/5
As much as I’ve been to the brewery, I haven’t eaten much of their food. With that being said, I can vouch for the jalapeno mac and cheese egg rolls; they hit just right in the realms of cheesiness and crunchiness. I also tried their Nashville hot pork sandwich. An interesting take on a Nashville. Venturing closer to the Indiana boarder, I can’t help but wonder if the sandwich was inspired by some of the fabulous pork sandwiches I’ve had in the state.
Overall—Recommend 16/20
I do recommend going to this brewery if you ever get the chance. It’s worth planning out a trip to stop in here and enjoy the food and the beer. I’ve definitely done my fair share of quick on-the-way stops, but it’s worth taking your time here and enjoying it and cruising the town of St. Joe. This brewery definitely found its place in this town.
