Flat River Brewing Co.
Greenville, Michigan

I’ll be honest; Flat River Brewing Co. is another one in the middle of nowhere. Their beer menu caught my eye, and they have been around since 2019.
Beer Selection
For 13 drafts—including two ciders—they do have an array of different beers. The usual suspects are covered with lagers, IPAs, a Schwarzbier, and a peanut butter porter.
I tried the majority of them.

Vibe
It’s a small place, which makes it cozy. However, there’s not a whole lot to it. If you had to visualize it, you probably could—places tend to blend together in similarity after a bit and this place is no different. So this was a weird mix of both familiar and cozy versus a bit drab.
Service
The server was very friendly and was willing to provide more tastes than we got in the traditional flights. He was happy we made the stop. And was willing to talk to us.
Beer Quality
I recommend the peanut butter porter (Port Stitches: 6.3% abv) and the harvest ale (Taylor Harvest: 7.1% abv)—both were great. Did the beers blow me out of the park? Not exactly, but they were good AND worth getting to-go.
Cider Mel, their grape cider, tastes exactly like the sparkling grape juice I was served as a kid for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Food
The food doesn’t go out of its way and basically seems like it’s there to be there. But I get the reason for having food: so people stay longer. So they have something to munch on to absorb some of that alcohol. They had a few interesting choices including fried green beans with a horseradish sauce to dip in; I found these great.
I also had a flatbread. Supreme. It fell into the realms of average, which in all honesty isn’t necessarily a bad thing. And honestly, I’d blame the choice on me here; there were more interesting flatbreads on their menu.
Overall
I’d check this place out to form your own opinion of it. I wouldn’t put it on my list of “must travel to” breweries in Michigan, but it was worth visiting.
