ByGeorge Brewing Co.
Munising, Michigan

After a boat tour of Pictured Rocks, what’s the perfect thing to do? Go to a brewery. You got it. This one happened to be in walking distance of where I parked for the boat tour.

Beer Selection—4.5/5
ByGeorge offered around ten beers on draft. The range here proved great—lighter beers, slightly experimental with their blueberry pancake pilsner to hoppier beers and two big boys: a beligian triple and a big double IPA.
Really, with a solid list, they nailed it the realm of selection.
Vibes—3.5/5
This one gives strong beach vibes. With the sun beating down on me, I dug it. They have a nice space and a nice bar. It felt fresh and a much needed break from restaurant/brewery vibes.

Service—5/5
The bartender was super friendly, made sure I got to try beers I wanted and talked about the beers with me. I did catch a break where there wasn’t a rush. When I got ready to leave there was a line out the door. Damn tourists are everywhere! Those trolls. Thankfully, when I asked for my bill they got it right away so I could sneak out without having to entertain the Charlie Foxtrot.
Beer Quality—3/5
I’m not gonna lie: these were hit and miss. The blueberry pancake pilsner really blew me away. Is it gimmicky? Maybe. BUT this beer knocked it out of the park—it’s exactly what it says it is.
The brewer completely nailed it here. Blueberry. Pancakes. But in best form imaginable: beer form.
It was hot out which maybe affected which beers I was in the mood for. Generally, I do like Big Boy IPAs and Belgians (if done right). These two missed the mark for me. The IPA was drinkable, but I did not even finish my sample of the Belgian. I can’t remember the last time I left a sample of beer in my life. (Admittedly, it’s happened before and I’m not going to name names until I get to their review, but just saying!)
I’d definitely stop in for these beers. Overall, I was happy they had some really good ones.

Food—???
This place is connected to a deli. When I visit six breweries in a trip, I can’t really eat at every single place. So I can’t say much about the food offerings here.
Overall—Recommend
I recommend giving ByGeorge a go if you’re in the area. The atmosphere and beers are worth checking out. As I said, this place can really fill up, so if possible, catch it at a time when it’s not busy.
